When your sugar daddy is a vampire, it turns out you end up very nearly nocturnal yourself.

Although I had worked the night shift during my official employment at Stadt Industries, it was nothing compared to now. I woke at seven in the evening, then, freshly showered and carrying my backpack and lab coat, I emerged from the small bedroom I had at my dad’s house and headed downstairs, brain already puzzling over the experiments I had left in the lab the previous morning.

“Hey, Avie,” I heard my father call from the other room, as I headed out the door of our shared apartment. I hate that nickname, and really didn’t have time for this, but I didn’t want to argue with him, so I backtracked, sticking my head into the kitchen, where my father sat at the table, eating dinner.

“Yeah?”

“Did you get a chance to ask Stefan”--yeah right, as if he’s on a first name basis with his boss’s boss’s boss, I thought to myself--“about my project idea? I think it could be a big break for the company… and maybe earn your old man a raise, too?” He chuckled to himself.

“Not, yet, sorry. I really have to go, I’ll be late for work.”

“You’d think dating the CEO would at least get you a day shift,” he laughed again, and I forced out a smile and a wave goodbye before turning toward the door again. “Don’t let him work you too hard,” my dad called me.

If only he knew.

Only moments later, I was in the backseat of CEO Stadt’s private car. He pulled me to sit in his lab, my legs spread wide over his muscular thighs, my arms thrown around his neck as James, Stefan’s butler-cum-personal assistant, drove us towards the CEO’s building, which housed the private labs in which I worked. His hands were on my hips, strong fingers pressing into my skin as I ground down into his lap, his erection evident to me even through our clothes. He pulled me closer to him, his lips on mine, his tongue chasing my taste.

“I thought I was here for research tonight, sir,” I managed, before Stefan captured my lips with his again. “I have an idea for--” I attempted between kisses “--the experimental vampirism prophylactic--”

“Shh, baby,” he whispered, covering my mouth with his hand and sending chills down my spine, “save that for when we arrive, and just let me--” he kissed along my jaw, thrusting his hips up to meet mine in the leather-scented backseat.

A gentle throat-clearing could be heard above the sound of our mingled breathing. James.

“We’ve arrived, Mr. Stadt.”

“Go around the block again, James,” Stefan said, but I shook my head at the vampire, gesturing to my backpack. “No, nevermind,” he sighed. “Our researcher needs to get to work.”

Stefan’s penthouse apartment was on the top floor of a large stone building that he had told me, on our first “date,” had been in his family for generations--in fact, he had bought it himself, but to be fair, it had been generations ago.
